Duchess Catherine recycles dress by favourite designer Jenny Packham as she and William attend a gala dinner at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Prince William and Catherine hosted a dinner at the museum celebrating the 600th anniversary of Scottish university St Andrews College – where the royal couple first met and fell in love.
Catherine wore a stunning floor-length gown by one of her favourite British designers, Jenny Packham, who created a special Kiwi-themed dress for the Duchess when she visited New Zealand on the royal tour downunder earlier this year. If it the gown looks familiar, it’s because she has worn it before – and to another gallery event no less!
The Duchess wore the gown to her first official engagement of the year in January as she attended the unveiling of her own portrait at the National Portrait Gallery of London.
The Duchess is known for her thrifty tastes when it comes to fashion and has unabashedly recycled other favourite outfits many times before. Catherine often eschews designer labels too in favour of high street brands that are affordable to all – and the styles always sell out instantly after she wears them.
It was thought that actor Tom Hanks would also be attending the awards as his own daughter attended and graduated from the university in 2004.
The Met event followed an eventful day for the royals on their whirlwind tour of the United States with the royal couple paying a visit to the September 11 memorial site and museum in the morning, and Prince William dropping by the Empire State Building with New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio in the afternoon.
The day evening before that the couple attended a basketball game in Brooklyn, alongside Beyonce and Jay Z and Prince William also met with President Obama in Washington.
William and Catherine are due to return home to the UK the following day where no doubt, Prince George will be happy to be reunited with them!
