Beaming in blue, the Duchess of Cambridge was in great spirits as she attended the 75th Anniversary of the RAF Air Cadets at St Clement Danes Church in London on Sunday.
It marked the mother-of-two’s first official solo event with the military.
Catherine opted for a timeless cornflower blue overcoat by Alexander McQueen, which she teamed with flowing brunette locks, natural make-up and a black fascinator.
But perhaps her most treasured accessory, apart of course from her sparkling engagement ring, was the stunning ruby RAF brooch pinned onto her coat.
The glittering badge is traditionally given to the most outstanding female cadet. In a sentimental touch, the beautiful accessory was donated to the RAF Air Cadets from the Dacre family in 1982 to celebrate the first ever woman joining the fleet.
It was last worn by 19-year-old cadet Lucinda Conder, who won the best female cadet accolade and is now on loan to The Duchess. Even more special is the fact that Catherine is the first ever female patron of the RAF.
At the bash, the 34-year-old revealed her son Prince George wants to follow in dad Prince William’s footsteps. “He is now obsessed with the air cadets and wants to join,” Catherine told London local and 19-year-old cadet Lucinda Conder.

Catherine stepped into her new role back in December, taking over from her grandfather-in-law Prince Philip.
This marks the royal’s first official outing as the Honorary Air Commandant of the Air Cadets.
It’s been a busy week for the mother-of-two. On Sunday, Kensington Palace released a moving video of Catherine, who calls to action the need to focus on “building children’s resilience and their ability to cope with life’s stressful situations.”
The video coincides with the Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week.
Catherine has been a patron of the charity since 2013 and has been tirelessly campaigning to help provide mental health services in schools.
