Sarah, the Duchess of York, has opened up once again about how Princess Diana would feel about her son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

Sarah and the Princess of Wales were close friends even before they joined the royal family in the 1980s, and their bond lasted through both of their divorces.

Though Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in 1997, Sarah has said the princess would be “so proud” of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were she alive today.

“I wish Harry and Meghan so much happiness. I know Diana would be so proud of her sons and their wives,” she said in a TV interview with Good Morning America.

“There should be no judgement on race, creed, colour or any other denomination.”

Her comments appeared to be in reference to claims the Duke and Duchess faced racism during their time as senior working royals.

Harry and Meghan said in their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey that, before their son Archie was born, there were “conversations” among senior royals about how dark his skin would be.

The Duchess of York’s new comments seem to affirm that Princess Diana, had she lived, would never have tolerated bigoted attitudes towards her son, Duchess Meghan or their children.

This isn’t the first time Sarah has spoken about her late friend and how Diana would feel about the modern generation of royals.

In July, Sarah told People: “If she [Diana] were sitting with me right now, I know she would say, ‘I am so proud of both of my boys and the wonderful wives they have chosen.

“Because each has got her own voice.”

Although their friendship didn’t come without its challenges, the Duchess of York has nothing but kind words for her late friend.

Sarah has recently been promoting her new book, Her Heart for a Compass, which she said is heavily inspired by her own time as a royal while married to Prince Andrew.

The book follows a “rebel royal” in 1985 who wants to leave royal life behind to follow her heart, a plot that bears similarities to Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s own story.

The Duke and Duchess stepped back from royal duties in 2020 to move to the US and forge a new life for themselves and their young family.
