An adorable tribute has been shared to the Danish royal twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine children to Crown Prince Frederick and Princess Mary as the family celebrates their 12th birthday.
The Danish royal family took to Instagram to share portraits of the twins.
“Their Royal Highnesses Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine have a birthday and are 12 years old today,” it said.
“The Prince and Princess are celebrated by the family, and the Crown Prince couple are delighted to share new pictures of Their Royal Highnesses.”
The twins were born on January 8, 2011, in Copenhagen University Hospital where Princess Mary delivered her eldest two children. Vincent arrived first at 10:30am and just 26 minutes later Josephine was born.
With every new photos royal watchers receive, it becomes more clear how much the twins are turning into their parents doppelgangers.
As fourth and fifth in line to the Danish throne, the twins have certain personal freedom’s their eldest siblings do not have.
“They will have freedom to a much higher degree than their father,” Copenhagen University’s Associate Professor of Danish History, Jes Fabricius Moller, told Adelaide Now in 2011.
“They can have many different and unusual careers, but they cannot do anything considered immoral […] because what they do in the public eye, will reflect back on the entire royal family.”
It is expected that the twins will go on to support their older brother, Prince Christian when he eventually becomes King after Prince Frederick.
Their cousins, children to Prince Joachim and Princess Marie also have more freedom after Queen Margrethe’s decision to strip them of their royal titles which came into effect as of January 1, 2023.
Now the children Nikolai, Felix, Henrik and Athena will be referred to as Count or Countess of Monpezat rather than His or Her Royal Highness and Prince or Princess.
