Aussie chef Curtis, who now resides in Los Angeles with his actress wife Lindsay Price and their two adorable boys, Hudson, three and Emerson, seven-months, told the Daily Mail that he finds junk food particularly rife in his new home nation of the States.
“Someone said to me on a TV show in America ‘but how do you stop your kid from eating hot dogs?’’” Curtis said.
“I’m like that’s pretty easy, my kid has never eaten a hot dog because it’s full of s***.”
“I don’t want him to have all the nitrates and c*** that’s in a hot dog.”
If that all sounds a bit harsh though, fear not, Curtis says that he still lets his son be a kid… sometimes.
“Of course one day he will be invited to a party at a fast food restaurant and I’m not going to say no, you can live a life of course, but you are in charge of his day to day.”
The 39-year-old also has pretty strong feelings about other parents training their kids to get into good eating habits.
“Your kid is going to embrace whatever you expose them to, right, that’s just a fact of life,” he explained.
“People tell you, ‘no, no my kid likes this or my kid likes that.’ My opinion is; that’s just not accurate.”
The talented chef is keen to get his kids involved in an appreciation of good food from as young as possible. Currently back in Australia to promote his new cookbook, Good Food, Good Life, the tome features images of little Hudson enjoying his dad’s creations throughout. Sigh, if only we all had a celebrity chef for a dad!
