Just weeks after proposing to his girlfriend on his TV show Becoming Chaz, Chaz Bono is a single man.
Chaz, 42, and his, now former fiancée Jennifer Elias who became engaged in November, have called off their engagement and are no longer a couple, their rep Howard Bragman told Us Weekly.
“They leave this relationship with great love, respect and affection towards one another,” he said.
Bono also tweeted about the split saying: “Thanks for your concern about our separation. I’m doing fine, and we remain on good terms with nothing but respect and affection 4 each other.”
The pair have been together five years, and began their relationship when Chaz was still a woman and went by the name of Chastity Bono.
Elias supported him throughout his transformation, but admitted to Oprah Winfrey that “it was really hard” when her partner transitioned from female to male.
“We had to really almost re-learn how to communicate and how to be around each other,” Elias said.
Following his success on US Dancing with the Stars Bono proposed to Elias on the top of Space Needle in Seattle earlier this year.
