Woody Harrelson’s notorious orgy with an undercover journalist dominated headlines in 2002, but the actor somehow hoped his now-wife wouldn’t read about it.
“I’m not sure how Laura [Louie] found out, but she did,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
“I was kind of hoping she wouldn’t see it. I can’t remember the details; I’ve doubtless repressed it. She never saw the thing. But someone told her.”
In the interview, Harrrelson recounted being approached by two women on a big night out in London before being joined by a third in a taxi back to his place.
“[In 2002] I went to this bar in London, and afterward these girls came up to me, these two girls, and asked me, ‘So you want to take a walk on the wild side?’ So I said, ‘I guess I do,’” he said.
When it came out that the third mystery girl was an undercover journo who had manipulated the other two women and enlisted a photographer, Harrelson wasn’t feeling great.
“I was bummed when they all left together ’cause I knew it was going to happen [an article]. News of the World, it was. I never read it ’cause I didn’t want to read it.”

When it came to telling his girlfriend and mother of his children, her reaction was to be surprisingly understanding.
“Laura — this really gives you a sense of the depth of her compassion — what she said to me after finding out was, ‘That must be really hard for you, to have this s–t exposed,’” he said. “She just said that. Now that doesn’t mean she wasn’t upset.”
That doesn’t mean he didn’t have to work hard for forgiveness.
“How did I apologize? You know, just your standard Texan grovel,” he explained. “But she forgave me, and we’re still together.”
The pair wed in 2008 and share three daughters – Deni, 24, Zoe, 20, and Makani, 11.
Harrelson used the confronting experience as inspiration for his experimental film Lost in London, and his wife was the one to type up the first draft.
Hollywood, hey? What a place.
