With baby arriving any day, a nervous Duchess needs her husband more than ever.
Prince William is waiting and ready to rush to Kate’s side at any moment for the birth of the royal heir to the throne. When that call comes, the excited father-to-be will probably be airlifted from Wales, where he’s based as a helicopter pilot, to London so he can be welcome his first child into the world.
In an unprecedented and wide-ranging statement to the media, the palace indicated the birth is imminent, with royal aides making the revelation that as soon as the Duchess of Cambridge goes into labour they’ll make a public announcement.
Meanwhile, Prince William’s commitment is welcome news for his usually unflappable 31-year-old wife, who, sources say, has come down with a case of pre-birth nerves as her July 13 due date approaches.
“She’s normally a very brave, no-nonsense girl. But with the big day getting nearer, Kate’s told William she wants him with her constantly. She’s terrified he won’t be there if she goes into labour early,” a source tells UK mag Now. “This is uncharted territory for both of them. It’s exciting though, and she knows he’ll do everything in his power not to let her down. He realises she’s feeling vulnerable.”
