Your country doesn’t have to be involved in the competition to love Eurovision!
US actor-comedian Will Ferrell has caused a stir in Lisbon, Portugal this week when he unexpectedly appeared backstage with his wife Viveca Paulin at the singing event.
Swedish performer Benjamin Ingrosso found himself with an audience when the A-lister sat in the crowd to watch his dress rehearsal of “Dance You Off”.
Fans of the 50-year-old will no doubt be glad to see him out and about after his recent car accident in Los Angeles. The incident saw him rushed to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
It’s unknown why Will is in the Lisbon area, but as his wife Viveca is Swedish, it’s certainly likely they are throwing their support behind the nation.
Perhaps, our songstress Jess Mauboy can persuade him to cheer for Australia instead?
In the meantime, the 28-year-old singer-songwriter is knuckling down ahead of her Eurovision commitments.
She is hoping to wow the jury when she takes center stage to sing “We Got Love” for the Semi-Final, which airs on SBS Friday May 11 LIVE at 5am (AEST), and again at 7.30pm.
“I’m so nervous!” she admits.
“But we’ve been able to smooth down a few details here and there [during rehearsals]. It feels like a dream but it’s not. And i know it, I’m awake.”
The Aussie singer has received a warm welcome from locals ahead of her big performance. She stunned the crowd on the Eurovision Blue Carpet in a long-sleeved red gown and has charmed critics across the world.
Let’s hope she can bring home the coveted glass microphone!
The Eurovision Grand Final airs at 5am on Sunday, May 13 on SBS and again at 7.30pm.
