A tweet penned by the hugely popular children’s band on Tuesday morning confirmed the happy news: “Excited to share the happy news- Emma and Lachy are engaged! Big Wiggly congratulations from everyone at Team Wiggles.”
Alongside the message was a touching snap of the happy couple beaming with happiness as Emma – also known as the Yellow Wiggle – showed off her enormous ruby red engagement sparkler.
Speaking to The Telegraph’s Confidential about the romantic proposal, the couple revealed it took place by Sydney Harbour with 29-year-old Lachy reading a sweet poem before getting down on one knee.
But it didn’t all go to plan! “We thought we had picked a quiet location… I was quite emotional, I was crying as I read the poem and just as I got down on one knee a lady walked past with her little baby…she let out a massive gasp,” Lachy explained.
Shortly after they let the world know about their wedding plans, Emma took to Instagram to express her utter joy. “The most beautiful thing… Lachy Gillespie (Lachy Wiggle) asked me to marry him! YES of course xx,” she wrote.
Despite being together for two years, the duo decided to keep their romance under wraps in a bid to prevent putting the supergroup in jeopardy. However after realising they were in it for the long haul, they finally went public with their love in March.
Speaking to The Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential in March, Lacy explained: “It was obvious for both of us that we had a lot of feelings for each other so it happened naturally that we started spending more time together on top of already spending every day working and preforming together.”
“Being able to experience, together, this amazing time of becoming Wiggles has been the best thing to happen to me,” Emma added.
While the duo are the two newest recruits, with Lachy replacing Purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt and Emma stepping in for Greg Page in 2012, they are certainly making their own distinctive mark. And now with a 2016 wedding in the pipeline, the only way is up for this supremely talented power couple – congratulations!
