Leigh Sales is renowned for her hard-hitting interviewing style on ABC’s 7.30.
She has spoken notably with politicians and humanitarians but the one person she claims she would like to interview most is someone who known both for his cricketing prowess and off-pitch shenanigans, Shane Warne.
According to a SMH report, Leigh has been chasing Warnie for five years waiting for him to accept her invitation to tell his story.
Shane Warne has had an amazing sporting careers and his after hours antics have been equally touted by the press, making him a colourful and interesting option for Sales.
“He seems like a harmless, interesting guy that gets a lot out of life and I find him really interesting plus I know a lot of people who have met him say he’s ridiculously charismatic,” she told Fairfax Media.
“I haven’t seen Warnie do an in-depth profile interview – the kind that I would like to do with him – but I think he’s contracted to Channel Nine.”
It’s possible one reason Shane is avoiding the conversation is due to the fact that there are claims that his charity’s finances and reporting practices are under scrutiny from the consumer watchdog.
It was reported last week that the Shane Warne Foundation donated an average of 16 cents in the dollar to their chosen charity organisation for sick and underprivileged children despite $1.8 million being raised in the last three years.
