Actress Kate Winslet has revealed why she never became romantically involved with long-time friend and her Titanic co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Kate, who turns 39 on Sunday, is the cover girl of the new issue of Marie Claire UK. She told the magazine: “He always saw me as one of the boys; I’ve never really been a girly-girl. We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system.”
The pair’s careers reached an all-time high following James Cameron’s blockbuster hit Titanic in which they starred as Jack and Rose.
Since then, Kate and Leo have remained close friends and worked together on a second film, Revolutionary Road.
The Reader actress added: “I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing.
“It’s so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did.”
