On Tuesday, Kanye was spotted visiting the president-elect at the tightly guarded Trump Tower in New York.
Speaking with E! News, a source revealed that the unlikely pair met to discuss Kanye becoming an “ambassador of sorts.”
The source added that Trump has Kanye pegged for an “entrepreneurial leadership role.”
According to the New York Times, a spokesperson for Trump revealed it was actually Kanye who requested the meeting.
“The meeting was requested by Kanye and we were delighted to host him,” the spokesperson wrote, adding, “They had a very positive and productive conversation.”
The pair met for a brief time before returning to the building’s lobby to answer questions.
When asked about the meeting, Trump said “Just friends, just friends, and he’s a good man.”
He added, “We’ve been friends for a long time.”
When questioned about the reason for meeting, Trump responded: “Life. We discussed life.”
Kanye remained silent as reporters questioned him, instead opting to explain the meeting later that day on Twitter. The Jesus Walks rapper tweeted, “I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues.”
He added, “I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”
The rapper’s bizarre meeting is certainly raising eyebrows, considering in the past the 70-year-old infamously body-shamed Yeezy’s now-wife, Kim Kardashian.
Donald felt it was necessary to discuss the reality star’s weight while chatting to Howard Stern on his radio show, back in February 2013.
“Does she have a good body? No … Does she have a fat ass? Absolutely,” the politician said of the now-mum-of-two. “And if it weren’t Kim, they’d say, ‘Wow, I don’t want to go out with her.'”
That same year he went on to comment about Kim’s appearance with Showbiz Tonight.
“She’s a nice person. I’ve known her over the years. She’s really a nice person,” he said of the 36-year-old, who at the time was pregnant with her first child.
“She’s gotten a little bit large. I would say this, I don’t think you should dress like you weigh 120 pounds.”
While Yeezy has been steered towards to the Republican candidate, Kim has been very vocal of her support of Hillary Clinton.
“I found that without a doubt, I stand with Hillary. I’m with her. I believe Hillary will best represent our country and is the most qualified for the job. This year, I’m not just voting for myself, but also for my children, and I took that into careful consideration when I made my decision,” she voiced earlier this year.
Kanye’s visit comes after he was forced to cancel the remaining 21 shows of his Saint Pablo tour due to hospitalisation at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles on November 21.
According to TMZ, sources close to the rapper and his reality TV star wife, Kim Kardashian-West, said that during this time he was “profoundly depressed and paranoid”.
