Just days after Josh Duhamel and Fergie’s breakup made headlines the world over, it seems we might be closer to understanding exactly what led to their shock split.
According to a source close to the actor, the singer-songwriter’s “partying” was to blame.
“[Fergie] was very focused on her album and being a rock star again, and Josh felt like she was going back to her ‘old ways,’ ” the insider told Page Six.
They added that their marriage dissolved over the course of about a year, in spite of trying couples’ therapy.
The duo’s marriage breakdown coincides with the recording of Fergie’s first solo album in 11 years, Double Dutchess.
Speaking on The Today Show with host Hoda Kotb, the mother-of-one broke down about the long-gestating album after learning it had hit number one on the charts.
“I’m losing it,” she said, wiping tears away from her eyes.
“What?” she continued. “Oh my God, really? Thank you! Thank you everybody. Oh my God, I worked so hard.”
She added: ‘I’m losing it. I’m crazy losing it.’

While Fergie and Josh’s split after eight years of marriage may have come as a surprise to many, their relationship was over long before it made headlines.
“Honestly, it was just getting a little weird for us with all the romantic questions,” the singer told People on Tuesday, referring to the interviews she’s been doing to promote her new album.

“We just wanted to get adjusted in private. [And Axl’s school has helped as] we have a co-op so Josh and I would walk there several times before the school season,” she said of co-parenting with her now-ex.
She added: “It’s so great.”
The Battle Creek actor, 44, and “Big Girls Don’t Cry” hitmaker, 42, confirmed news of their split with a joint statement.

The statement concluded: “We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”
The pair met back in 2004 when the Black Eyed Peas made an appearance on Josh’s former NBC show, Las Vegas.
