Nearly two years after the tragic death of his best friend Paul Walker, actor Vin Diesel has shared a sweet snap of the daughter he named in his honour.
The 48-year-old took to Instagram over the week to post this adorable picture of him cuddling his five-month-old daughter, Pauline.
The touching photo, captioned “All love”, shows him planting a gentle kiss to his child with long-time girlfriend, Paloma Jimenez.
Pauline was named after Vin’s late best friend, actor Paul Walker, with whom he starred in several movies with, most notably the Fast and Furious franchise.
After Paul’s untimely death in a car accident in 2013, Vin felt it was very important to keep him “close” to his family, even feeling as if he was present during the birth of his daughter.
“He [Walker] was in the room. There’s no other person that I’m thinking about as I’m cutting this umbilical cord,” Vin said on an appearance on the Today Show, “I knew he was there and I felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my memory, a part of my world.”
Following the Into the Blue stars’ death, Vin published this moving tribute to his friend on his Facebook, writing that Paul was his “other half.”
“When I heard, I immediately flew back to California and went directly from the plane to his mother’s house,” the emotional post read.
“I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs,” said Vin.
“His mother hugged me and said ‘I am so sorry’… I said ‘Sorry? You’re the mother who lost a son?’”
“She said yes, but you lost your other half.”
Vin is the godfather to Paul’s 17-year-old daughter, Meadow.
