It’s been three months since Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell announced that they’d be reuniting to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of their first single, Wannabe.

And now Victoria Beckham, who has bowed out of the reunion, is sharing her thoughts on the new band.

Speaking to Sunday Times’ STYLE magazine, the 42-year-old revealed she doesn’t want her former bandmates – now known collectively as GEM – to use their original Spice Girls songs.

“I do think they should use new material, though, because what we did as the Spice Girls was so special,” she explained.

“If they sang Spice Girls songs, I think it might be a bit sad.”

But the singer-turned-designer is grateful for her time with the super-group and has no regrets.

“I think I learnt a lot from the Spice Girls, most importantly how you can have everything one minute and then lose it the next,” Posh explained to the publication.

“I’ve been given a second chance, so I’m not going to lose it again,” she added of her hugely successful fashion empire.

Meanwhile, the trio have been teasing fans about what to expect and released a video earlier in the year to thank everyone for their support.

Victoria and Mel C both turned down the reunion, with the latter releasing her own new music; a solo single called Anymore.

However, VB insists that there’s no bad blood and when asked if she wished GEM well, she replied: “Of course, as a new group, I do. I [just] think they should sing their own material.”

Victoria Beckham wants the new incarnation of the band to make new material.

And Mel C appears to have similar feelings.

In a recent essay for LOVE magazine, she wrote: “The hardest part for me was letting people down, the girls, the fans, civilisation?! Unfortunately something didn’t feel quite right and I had to follow my gut.”

“For me the absolute pinnacle of my Spice existence was being watched by a billion people around the globe belting out Spice up Your Life on top of a black cab at the 2012 London Olympics.”

The Spice Girls last performed as a five-piece at the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony in London.

Earlier this year Emma Bunton revealed that she wanted Victoria to make a return to the group as Posh Spice, but sadly, it wasn’t to be.

There’s no word just yet on when we can expect to hear music from GEM.
