Vicar of Dibley set for TV comeback

The TV comedy gods have answered your prayers.

The TV comedy gods have answered your prayers – The Vicar of Dibley is coming back.

And the news has come from Revd Geraldine Granger AKA Dawn French herself.

The hit UK sitcom ended almost 10 years ago after an amazing run between 1994 and 2007, and according to French, a return spin-off version could see her character get promoted to Bishop.

Now that the Church of England formally ruled in favour of allowing female Bishops in 2014, the 58-year-old said there’s hope for Geraldine to climb the ranks.

“You know, we now have Church law in the UK that women could be Bishops, so who knows? Watch this space – she might get a promotion!”

The new storyline will be loosely based on that which appeared in the hilarious 2015 Comic Relief special, also guest starring Emma Watson.

French said things will be have to be changed up for a comeback. “Our guys are really old now, so I don’t think we could revisit it because it’s just too different. But it could change.”

We can’t wait!
