Actress Vanessa Paradis has spoken for the first time about her split from partner of 14 years Johnny Depp.
In an interview published in the summer edition of French Elle magazine the 39-year-old, who is currently promoting her new movie Cornouaille, opens up just a little when asked about Johnny, 49, and the break-up.
“I don’t want to talk about him,” she says.
“Who said that artists should sell their soul, expose everything about themselves? It’s my duty to promote this movie, and my albums, but can you imagine what it feels like to see people making a business out of your pain.”
“What’s happened to us is our concern.”
Although she didn’t want to talk about Johnny, she does reveal how she feels about the situation.
“I don’t have the recipe for happiness, but I think the engine is simply having the desire,” she says.
“It’s not feeling obliged or forced or repeating yourself.
“I hate, for example, whenever you hear someone say: ‘You have work at being a couple’. No, you have to want to be there. And for me, I want to be right where I am right now.”
The working mum of two says she will continue to divide her time between the US and France with her and Johnny’s children Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 10.
