When Constance Zimmer spoke to OK! from her home in LA, she sounds exactly like her no-nonsense alter ego, Quinn King – minus the swearing!

But the 47-year-old insists she’s not quite as scary – or messed up – as her UnREAL character Quinn IRL.

“People on the street definitely approach me as if I’m a viper who’s going to strike then slither away,” she laughed.

“The ones who do approach usually find I’m actually incredibly nice, so it always gives me a good laugh.”

Here, Constance reveals what we can expect from the third season of UnREAL – hint: it involves a lot of very hot men! – why playing a tough gal like Quinn is the best and what real life’s like for her away from the set of Everlasting

Can we get all the goss on season three, please? It’s been too long!

Well, we’ve got a suitress called Serena [Caitlin FitzGerald], so that means we’re surrounded by 25 hot men who are trying to win her heart.

That’s definitely changed the dynamic! The season also starts out with Quinn and Rachel [Shiri Appleby] not playing to their usual strengths. Quinn is struggling a little bit; she’s still a badass, but she’s kind of beaten down at the start.

You’re working with Australia’s own Kassandra Clementi on UnREAL. Has she taught you any Aussie slang?

No, she hasn’t, but she should!

She’s the sweetest girl. I spend most of my scenes being horribly mean to her. After they called “cut”, I’d be like, “I’m so sorry, you’re so sweet and I feel bad for being such a bitch to you!”

We laugh a lot.

Do you socialise with Shiri and your other castmates much?

We usually catch up on set in each other’s trailers, where we’re trying to get warm in front of our fake fires! Vancouver is cold.

I don’t get to socialise much otherwise because I fly home to my husband and daughter in LA every weekend while we’re filming.

What does your daughter Colette think of your work?

She’s only 10 so she doesn’t see much of my work, but she’s proud of me, I think.

When I found out I was going back to House of Cards [playing Janine Skorsky] and that it would mean more travel, she was so sweet. She grabbed my hand and said, “Mum, this is what you wished and hoped for, so we’re happy for you.”

She’s in fourth grade. She’s a great kid. I’m very proud.
