It’s been a hell of a few weeks for Tom Cruise.

US media claims that apart from phone calls, he hasn’t seen his eight-year-old daughter Suri for more than 550 days, and his Scientology religion has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons as TV expose Going Clear was splashed across American small screens.

But if there’s one positive in his life, it’s his surprising recent reunion with 20-year-old Connor – the son he adopted during his ill-fated marriage to Nicole Kidman – who he hasn’t been pictured with since they attended a baseball game in Los Angeles in October 2013.

The father-son duo surprised fans at a women’s college basketball game in Tampa, Florida, where they happily chatted to fans and posed in photos.

While Connor remains an active Scientologist, he has pulled away from Tom and his sister Isabella, 22, in recent years as he forges a career as a nightclub DJ.

Throughout his late teens he was often seen smoking or riding his motorbike around LA. Meanwhile, Tom spent most of the past year filming Mission: Impossible 5 in London. It’s not known who Connor was living with during his dad’s extended stint overseas.

But as their religion faces damaging scrutiny, it appears Connor and Tom have reunited.

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, which was released to American audiences last week and will premiere here during the Sydney Film Festival, alleges that Connor’s mum Nicole was labelled “the enemy” by religion bosses, who had even requested to tap her phones.

The film claims Connor along with his sister Isabella, now 22 and believed to be living in a small village outside of London, were persuaded to “turn against their mum”.

As Woman’s Day has reported, Nicole admits that Connor and Bella “don’t even call me mum – they call me Nicole, which I hate.”
