Inspiring burns survivor, Turia Pitt and her long-term beau, Michael Hoskin have become engaged whilst holidaying together in The Maldives
In exclusive interview in the August edition of The Australian Women’s Weekly, on sale Thursday, Turia tells of her joy at receiving a diamond ring from the man who has been by her side since she was horrifically burned during an ultra-marathon in The Kimberley four years ago.
“I’m so overwhelmed with love at the moment,” Turia told The Weekly from the deck of the Ocean Divine, a dive boat that operates in The Maldives.
“It’s an incredible feeling. Michael’s my life partner, I’ve known that for years – and we’ve talked about marriage for as long as I can remember, and yet the proposal still came as a surprise.”
And, as The Weekly reports this month, it is fair to say Michael didn’t leave a single detail to chance.
The venue, the timing, the proposal itself – not to mention the circumstances surrounding the purchase of the diamond ring – are all the stuff of fairytales.
“Theirs is a love story that captured a nation’s heart,” says Weekly Editor-in-Chief, Helen McCabe. “And the proposal story, true to form, makes it a love story for the ages. We’re just so delighted for both of them.”
The full story of how Michael proposed and exclusive pictures from the deck of Turia and Michael’s ‘love boat’ are featured in the August issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly, on sale this Thursday.
