You’re going to be left with a huge lump in your throat after this one.
The trailer for I Am: Heath Ledger has been released and it’s incredibly sad.
As you can see from the trailer, the documentary will be comprised of home video footage belonging to the late actor and interviews with those who knew him.
The doco comes nine years after Heath tragically passed away in New York in 2008 from a prescription drug overdose.
Heath’s sister Kate Ledger features in the trailer but it’s unclear whether his mum Sally was also interviewed.

Notably missing was Jake Gyllenhaal, who is godfather to Heath’s daughter Matilda and his ex-fiancée (and mother to Matilda), Michelle Williams. It’s unclear whether they’ll feature.
Last year Jake spoke candidly about the tragic passing of his mate.
“Personally, it affected me in ways I can’t necessarily put in words or even would want to talk about publicly,” Jake told Entertainment Weekly.
“In terms of professionally, I think I was at an age where mortality was not always clear to me.”
Heath and Michelle Williams called off their romance in 2007.
In a recent interview with Porter Magazine, the actress admitted she still struggled with the fact her daughter didn’t have her dad around.
“In all honesty, for pretty much everything else, I feel like I’m a believer in not fighting circumstances, accepting where you are and where you’ve been.
“In pretty much all senses but one, I would be able to go totally down that line of thinking were it not for Matilda not having her dad,” she explained to Porter.
“You know, that’s just something that doesn’t… I mean, it just won’t ever be right.”
Matilda is her late Daddy’s mini-me.
The trailer for the documentary promises it’ll be a heart-wrenching but beautiful tribute. And we’ll see rare footage of Heath, along with wonderful anecdotes.
“He wanted fame, and then when he got it, he didn’t want it,” friend and filmmaker Matt Amato says in the trailer. “He was always a director. Acting was just a way to get there,” reveals childhood friend, Trevor DiCarlo.
The doco airs on Spike TV in the United States on May 17, after premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. Hopefully we’ll get an Aussie date to update you with soon.
