Forbes magazine has announced their top 100 most powerful celebrities of 2014, which they create by talking to specialists in the industry, estimating their earnings and calculating how frequently those celebrities are mentioned in print.

Only 32 out of the top 100 were female – with ten of those coming in after #90. We’ve counted down the top ten highest ranking females – including one who beat out the men to take the top spot.

Other females who ranked well in the list include female tennis players with Maria Sharapova ranked at #63 and Serena Williams coming in at #69. Unsurprisingly, Kim Kardashian made the list too, however she was further down than the tennis stars at #80. Angelina Jolie also beat out Kim K too – ranked at #73. Surprisingly though, Gwyneth Paltrow, with her GOOP empire, was further down the list at #89, but she was still ahead of Kate Moss at #91, Meryl Streep at #92 and Kerry Washington at #93.

9. Lady Gaga – ranked #19. Estimated earnings for the past year were $33 million – behind her peak of $90 million in 2011 but she continues to wield influence as a popstar as she packs stadiums with her busy touring schedule.

4. Rihanna- ranked #8. Only 26 years old but she raked in approximately $48 million over the past year. Forbes attributes a lot of the success to her social media savvy and her ability to connect directly with her audience.

3. Ellen Degeneres – ranked #5. It wouldn’t be surprising if Ellen overtook Oprah next year as she is already dominating as the new queen of daytime television. Her earnings for the past year are estimated at $70 million.
