Chet, 24, uploaded a moody video to his Instagram saying that: “I have an announcement. A tabloid is about to run a piece on me being in rehab for cocaine addiction. It’s true, and I’m currently 50 days clean and sober from everything, including alcohol.”

Chet is the son of movie superstars Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, and like many Hollywood kids raised in the limelight, he has been caught up with drug and alcohol abuse since a young age. He wrote: “I’ve been struggling with substance abuse since I was 16 years old.”

In an attempt to beat the news breaking elsewhere first, Chet decided to come clean and discuss his stint in rehab as he makes a fresh start and begins a new life of sobriety: “Finally at the age of 24 I decided to get some help. With 50 days of sobriety under my belt, I can honestly say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”

Chet makes quite the handsome male model on his Instagram page – perhaps a future career now that he’s clean and sober?

Chet continued to thank his supporters: “I’m thankful for my family and everybody that cares about me, including my fans. I’ve been blessed with the programs of AA and NA which allow me to rise above this disease. I’m learning to accept my faults and be ok.”

Chet is the second youngest of Tom Hank’s children. He’s the older brother to Truman – Tom Hanks’ other son to Rita Wilson. Tom also had two older children to his first wife Samantha Lewes. His elder son Colin Hanks is an actor too, best known for his role in TV Series Fargo.

Chet is also involved in show business, with a small role as a student in the 2011 film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, plus he also released a rap single in  titled “White and Purple,” – a cover of another song by  Wiz Khalifa’s titled “Black and Yellow”.

The dashing young Chet is rather handsome and fond of posting the odd shirtless selfie to his Instagram, so with his connections and his new clean lifestyle, he could well have a future career in modelling.

As to whether he wants to step back into the spotlight though? Perhaps Chet said it best when he closed his video post by saying: “I don’t give a F–– what people think. f–– the media.”
