Radio host Kyle Sandilands has never been the type to back down, and he has done it again after grilling Today show host Allison Langdon about potentially moving to A Current Affair.
Since long-time host Tracey Grimshaw announced her resignation, some of Australia’s top reporters have been suspected to take on the position including Allison Langdon and Carrie Bickmore, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
In what was supposed to be an interview about Jackie O Henderson temporarily leaving the Kyle and Jackie ‘O’ Show due to health concerns, Kyle Sandilands quickly turned the segment into a grilling about Ally’s future at Channel Nine.
“Are you doing A Current Affair or not?” Kyle asked.
Allison dodged the question and jokingly responded: “I am going to do the Today show, do A Current Affair and coach the Wallabies and I reckon Dan Andrew’s might offer me Ministry… and Premier of Victoria.”
But the KIIS FM radio host was not going to let Allison deflect that easily.
“Let’s stop the speculation. Are you doing A Current Affair or has Jackie gone off to do A Current Affair?” he asked.
“Just tell us. Have they spoken to you about A Current Affair?”
Allison attempted to brush the question off with another joke, claiming she could never “leave this face” referencing to her co-host Karl Stefanovic.
“Are you doing it or not?” Kyle repeated a final time before Allison at last shut down the rumours and answered “no.”
Karl then joked that Kyle should be doing A Current Affair after the grilling.
A Current Affair fans have been left wondering who else could take on such an established position, especially as Tracy will leave in December!
Viewers believed Channel Nine was preparing for Allison to step away from breakfast television after she disappeared from the breakfast show in recent weeks. Up-and-coming reporter Amelia Adam’s replaced her in what was believed to be a “live chemistry test”.
“She was the last to know and even though she’s been wanting ACA for some time, she still loves Today and finds it disheartening they’re testing new faces so fast,” a source told Woman’s Day.
