Australian singing sensation Tina Arena will soon be saying “I do” as Woman’s Day exclusively reveals that she’s not only found a new love, but she’s already engaged!
The 55-year-old has been quietly dating Swedish singer and producer Mattias Lindblom since August last year.
Tina was recently spotted wearing a stunning diamond ring on her finger as she was running errands around her home in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Shortly after, Mattias, 51, was seen arriving at her home – where he’s believed to also be living – with flowers, and was later seen speaking with Tina’s parents Giuseppe and Franca outside.
Mattias, who is a well-respected musician and has worked with Geri Horner and Duran Duran as well as Tina on many of her hit songs, is said to have popped the question weeks ago, a friend close to the pair confirms.
While he made a brief appearance on her episode of This Is Your Life earlier this month, he decided to keep the announcement a secret as he didn’t want to “take away from her moment”.
The friend reveals that the shock engagement has taken many in Tina’s inner circle by surprise.
However, they know that the songstress, who called her first marriage to Ralph Carr “disgraceful”, wasn’t going to walk into another relationship lightly, adding that they believe Mattias could be The One.
“This relationship looks and feels different from the ones before,” says the insider. “It’s been really easy, right from the beginning.”
The friend says that while the wedding “isn’t going to happen tomorrow”, walking down the aisle with her parents watching “is a priority”.
Following Tina’s divorce from Ralph in 1999, the singer had been in a relationship with French-born Vincent Mancini since 2000, giving birth to their son Gabriel in 2005.
However, according to the friend, their relationship came to an abrupt end two years ago, citing her demanding career and living apart as the catalyst for their split. Vincent is said to be living in France.
