Johnny Depp’s Puppy-gate reminiscent of 1956 fight to save dog

Mr Johnny Depp could learn a thing or two here, don't you think?

After causing quite the fuss, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have made the decision to fly their two Yorkshire terriers home to LA, after being threatened with euthanasia.

The pups, Pistol and Boo, are on their way back (on a private jet, of course) to the safety of the US and we’re sure Mr Depp is not happy about it.

But all this could have been avoided, if Mr Depp and Ms Heard had taken a leaf out of Miss Jan Woods’ book.

Miss Woods, who was a ‘physical culturist’, had been touring the world, and was just about to enter Australia with her pooch when she received an ‘urgent message’ from Australia, warning her not to bring her dog, lest it face “destruction” due to our quarantine laws.

“Australian officials reported yesterday they have succeeded at the eleventh hour in a desperate effort to save the life of a pet dog which might otherwise have died because of Australia’s quarantine laws,” said the 1956 Women’s Weekly article, “The Health Department cable said ‘Please endeavor to contact and inform her that dog prohibited entry Australia and if it arrives it will be destroyed’.”

“Miss Woods said she understood the situation and was delighted that the Australian Government had taken the trouble to contact her. ‘She said she would leave the dog in Borneo or some other place where restrictions were not so stringent’.”

Luckily for Miss Woods, she was leave her dog in Borneo, and her dog was allowed to live.

Wouldn’t that have been so much easier, Johnny?
