The Weekly addresses pig hunting

The Weekly's March feature about Queensland pig hunter Lou Warren has sparked a debate we would encourage society to have but we'd like to clear up a few misconception.

The Australian Women’s Weekly does not endorse, support or promote pig hunting. The magazine simply reported on Lou’s life, her pig hunting “hobby” and publishing business.

Our feature does not overlook, attempt to minimise or shy away from animal cruelty (indeed, this important issue is addressed from the very beginning).

While we love getting reader feedback we would encourage people to read the full feature, which is in the current issue of the magazine, so they can see the full story is balanced and objective.

The idea for this feature was sparked when Lou Warren published Australia’s first pig hunting magazine, for women. Her personal story is interesting and, as she acknowledges, she attracts both criticism and support.

We take our editorial responsibilities to our readers very seriously and were aware this issue would be controversial. For more, see the March issue of The Weekly.
