During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the Australian actor shared a story about his time in the slammer.
Now, before you start imagining what Thor could have possibly done to land himself in handcuffs, Chris explained it was all in the name of research for his movie, Blackhat.
“I was researching a film and we had to go in and basically see what the inside of a prison looked like and speak with prisoners who were willing to talk to us,” he said.
“No, they don’t get ‘Thor’ in here, they’re not going to watch movies. I don’t know, I’d never been to prison. So, I assumed that,” he assumed.
Chris learned an important lesson that day: Prisoners watch movies, too.
“The moment I started walking through the cells … I just started getting heckled,” he laughed.
“It’s like yo, Thor’s here man. Yo Thor, YO THOR!’ Where’s your hammer, man?’”
Of course, just like any of us, the inmates “encouraged” the Aussie hunk to join them in their cells.
‘”Yo, come spend some time in my cell, baby!'” he laughed
The genetically blessed hubby to wife Elsa Pataky, might not have blended in but we’re sure the research helped.
This is not the first time Chris has delved deep for a role.
The former People’s Sexiest Man lost his signature buff physique to prepare for the upcoming adventure epic, In the Heart of the Sea.
“It was a crazy diet,” he told Graham. “Sometimes when ‘cut’ was called you would literally pass out from exhaustion.”
The actor revealed that he consumed as few as 500 calories a day to look like a sailor on the verge of starvation. Chris posted a photo of his extreme weight loss on Instagram with the caption, “Just tried a new diet/training program called ‘Lost At Sea.’ Wouldn’t recommend it.”
Judging by his appearance on the British chat show, Chris has bounced right back into shape!
