From Hollywood heavyweights like Ben Affleck to Jennifer Garner, who announced they were calling time on their ten-year marriage in June, to the teen dream duo that was Gigi Hadid and Cody Simpson, it looks as if no one is exempt from the big break-ups in life – not even seemingly perfect celebs.

And for some, by the time the sad reality sets in of what they have truly lost it’s just a little too late. Case in point is Kourtney Kardashian’s baby daddy Scott Disick, who recently took to Instagram to do some belated grovelling, following fevered speculation he cheated on his long-term partner with former flame and stylist Chloe Bartoli.

Like a guilty puppy with his tail between his legs, the self-titled Lord shared a sombre snap of his place-card at a friend’s wedding which simply read “Scott Disick guest”, alongside the telling caption: “When u realize the grass isn’t always greener.”

At least we know break ups suck for everyone, even the ever confident Lord Disick.

In a post on Instagram the Complicated singer revealed, “It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. They’re music royalty with coolness oozing out of their perfect pores but not even 13-years of marriage and three kids could save Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale from ending it. In a joint statement released at the start of August, the pair explained: “While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment.”

They’ve both had turbulent romantic histories so we were truly ecstatic when Charlize Theron and Sean Penn hooked up. Fast forward a year-and-a-half later and the actors reportedly pulled the plug on their romance in June. According to the well placed source speaking to Us Weekly, it was South African-born Charlize who decided to call it quits.

Despite the heartbreak for the man she once described as “hot”, there is new-found joy in the 39-year-old’s life with fresh reports claiming she has just adopted her second child, a daughter named August!

They swanned their way through the most glamorous of events and looked to be in love, despite their 17-year age gap. However Bradley Cooper, 40, and model Suki Waterhouse, 23, split in March. The actor has since moved on with another leggy lady, model Irina Shayk.

In Hollywood, it seems all good McDreamies must come to an end… even Patrick and Jillian Dempsey’s 15 year marriage. “It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage. Our primary concern remains the wellbeing of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family’s privacy at this very sensitive time,” the pair said in January.

Brian McFadden and Vogue Williams revealed the end of their marriage in a very modern way in June this year, thorough simultaneous Twitter messages of course! “It is with sadness that [we] have made the tough decision to go our separate ways. We will always care greatly about each other all the very best for the future,” the statement said. The duo tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Tuscany in 2012 and had often talked about starting a family.

He’s a singer, she’s a model. Teen dreams never looked so good! But Cody Simpson,18, and Gigi Hadid, 20, just weren’t meant to be and put the brakes on their relationship in May. “It’s tough because like, you know, I have a best friend in Gigi and like, we’ve been together and we’ve been broken up for certain reasons and we’ve been back together and we’ve been broken up,” the Aussie singer eloquently explained during a chat on The Bump recently.

If ever there was a reality TV love story for the ages, it was Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick’s epic saga. While the party boy had come so far since he first burst onto the scene in 2006 (L), their on-again-off-again partnership finally came crashing down after the 32-year-old hit the party circuit and was spotted getting close to his ex-girlfriend Chloe Bartoli. “I am just taking it one day at a time. With everything going on right now, I need to be positive for myself,” the father-of-three told Us Weekly following their split.

Who could have guessed that when Louis Tomlinson and his girlfriend Eleanor Calder went their separate ways in March, just four months later the 1D singer would be rocked with a baby bombshell! The exciting and surprising announcement was confirmed by People, who revealed that the 23-year-old and LA-based stylist Briana Jungwirth are set to become parents.

“It has a lot to do with being a feminist, but I’m finally okay with being alone. I think that’s something we have to talk about more: that you can be alone,” Miley Cyrus explained to Time magazine of her split with Arnie’s son Patrick Schwarzenegger after five months together.

Oh the sweet music they could have made! In January Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams revealed they had “mutually decided to end their marriage of almost six years. It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways.”
