Gilmore Girls is set to return to our screens (and our hearts) for its 16th anniversary very soon, and the world is pretty excited about what’s next for the classic sitcom.
While we don’t yet know too much about what we can expect from the four part reboot entitled, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, a recently-released trailer for the highly-anticipated series which gives us a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what Lorelai, Rory, Luke and all your other favourites will have in store for us when the show comes to Netflix next month.
What we do know, however, is the impressive amount that the show’s two main characters will be earning for their work on the revival.
Lauren Graham, who play Lorelai, and Alexis Bledel, who portrays Rory, will be getting just shy of $1million per episode ($984,000, to be precise).

The figures come from a Variety survey, which showed that the two stars are earning substantially more than NCIS’ Mark Harmon, who earns $US525,000 per episode, and even the stars of Game of Thrones (Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington etc.) who take home $US500,000 per episode.
This could be a huge step forward for female stars in Hollywood, who notoriously earn less than their male counterparts.
With Claire Danes earning big for Homeland, and Kaley Cuoco making an impressive $US1 million per episode of The Big Bang Theory (the same as co-stars Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki), could things be looking up?

In October last year, Jennifer Lawrence wrote an open letter asking why her co-stars earned more than she and Amy Adams did in American Hustle.
Actress Amanda Seyfried also told The Sunday Times: “A few years ago, on one of my big-budget films, I found I was being paid 10 percent of what my male co-star was getting, and we were pretty even in status.”
Thanks to female-led successes, such as Orange is the New Black and now the much-awaited Gilmore Girls revival, the Hollywood pay gap could finally be closing.
