Cate Blanchett has signed on to play Lucille Ball in a movie about the actressโ 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz.
Lucille and Desiโs children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., will produce the movie, which is likely to be written by Aaron Sorkin.
Itโs unclear how well Cate and Aaron will get on, given that leaked emails published as part of the Sony hack suggest that he didnโt have to go to any great lengths to win an Oscar for her performance in Blue Jasmine.
The Daily Beast reports that Aaronโs email said: โYear in and year out, the guy who wins the Oscar for Best Actor has a much higher bar to clear than the woman who wins Best Actress.
โCate gave a terrific performance in Blue Jasmine but nothing close to the degree of difficulty for any of the five Best Actor nominees.โ
โDaniel Day-Lewis had to give the performance he gave in Lincoln to winโJennifer Lawrence won for Silver Linings Playbook, in which she did what a professional actress is supposed to be able to do.โ
โPhil Hoffman had to transform himself into Truman Capote while Julia Roberts won for being brassy in Erin Brockovich. Sandra Bullock won for โThe Blind Sideโ and Al Pacino lost for both Godfather movies. Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep can play with the boys but there just arenโt that many tour-de-force roles out there for women.โ

Ryan OโKane has been cast as her onscreen Prince Charming, Prince Frederik

Naomi Watts took on the role of Diana, Princess of Wales in her biopic film, Diana, but unfortunately, her portrayal was met with little enthusiasm. Despite getting the hair and wardrobe right, reviews were left cold by Naomiโs โwooden performanceโ of the late royal.

Another Aussie great, Nicole Kidman, didnโt fare well either with her portrayal of Monegasque Princess Grace. Her film, Grace of Monaco, was so poorly received it skipped the box office and went straight to Lifetime.
