The Bachelor’s NZ winner Fleur Verhoeven dumped after just two days

It was supposed to be her happily ever after but when cameras stopped rolling it was a very different story.

She was supposed to be living out her happily ever after but 48 hours after cameras stopped rolling on New Zealand’s version of The Bachelor contestant Fleur Verhoeven found herself single again.

The 26-year-old winning contestant was presented with a $26,000 commitment ring from Jordan Mauger, the man at the center of The Bachelor across the ditch, but in the two days since the finale the pair have spilt.

“It’s been a crazy last 48 hours really. It still feels like an out of body experience. It’s really overwhelming. I’m taking it a minute at a time,” she told the New Zealand Herald.

During her chat with Focus the blonde from Hawkes Bay said she had been avoiding social media since Jordan broke up with her, but was feeling the support of the public.

“It’s really nice to hear all the amazing words, all the nice things everyone’s saying,” she said. “To be honest, I haven’t read most of it. I’ve kind of stayed away from social media and everything for the last 24 hours. The odd thing I have heard and the little messages here and there from friends and even strangers have been really amazing.”

As for her former flame Fleur, who wasn’t wearing any rings, seemed to want to take the high road, saying, “I respect his honesty and honestly I just wish him all the best.”

Jordan also issued a statement explaining his decision.

“Fleur is a remarkable woman. There is no doubt about that. What I have struggled with is interpreting my feelings from the show to the real world,” the 32-year-old Jordan said.

Adding: “For the last seven weeks, Fleur and myself shared concerns and doubts over that time, hoping that feelings would reignite again.”

Despite his attempts to gain understanding from the public the actor Jordan has been the target of some criticism.

NZ’s reality romance woes hark back to Australia’s own Bachelor drama two years ago when Blake Garvey dumped his finale pick Sam Frost to date another contestant, Louise Pillidge.
