This brainteaser will prove how logical you are… but only four per cent of people can actually solve it.
Based on a 1963 study by Peter Watson, the brainteaser is said to reveal how your brain works.
A video posted by YouTube channel WonderWhy asks viewers to (mentally) turn over two cards.
You’re initially shown four cards and told two rules which are that a) the cards have letters on one side and numbers on the other and b) if a card has a vowel on one side, it must have an even number on the other.
With the cards A, K, 2, and 7, which cards do you turn over so that the rule is followed?
Most people pick A and 2 but the answer is actually A and 7.
And to get that answer, the video suggests that you should instead change your thinking so you look for cards that DON’T follow the rule.
According to the rule…
Card A: The other side should be an even number.
Card 7: The other side will not show a vowel.
Card 2: There is no rule for even numbers so it doesn’t matter if you turn it over.
Card K: Same as above.
Tough to get your head around, right?
