Former Home & Away star Tessa James has thanked her fans and family after revealing she has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Tessa, 23, took to social media overnight to post a message to thank her supporters.
“It has been simply overwhelming,” she wrote.
Tess, who is married to NRL star Nate Myles, has returned from Los Angeles to her home on the Gold Coast to undergo chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Tessa and her husband had been living in LA, splitting their time between Australia and the States so that she could pursue an international acting career.
“Tessa will be undergoing chemotherapy over the next few months. Tessa and Nate would like to thank all for their well wishes and would ask for privacy during this very difficult time,” the couple said in a statement to the Daily Telegraph.
Tessa’s former Home and Away co-stars have rallied around her, sending messages of support via social media.
“Love you Tess. Sending all our love and support from the Lewis clan xoxo,” Lincoln Lewis tweeted after hearing the news.
Cancer-survivor and network Seven presenter Sally Obermeder also reached out to the young star: “#TessaJames all my love, strength & courage. You can do this. Know that there’s so much love & support from everyone for you xx.”
Esther Anderson, who also appeared on the show at the same time as Tessa, tweeted: “Sending my dear friend love and strength right now and every step of the way. Love you”.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma is the same type of cancer that Delta Goodrem was diagnosed with in 2003, at just 18 years old. Now 29, Delta has since made a full recovery from the disease.
