Australia’s tennis stars turned out for the 2014 Newcombe Awards in Melbourne on Monday night.
Pat Rafter and his wife Lara; Lleyton Hewitt and his wife, Bec, along with Sam Stosur and Alicia Molik turned out to see talented teenager Nick Kyrgios take home the Newcombe Medal as Australia’s most outstanding tennis player of the year.
The ceremony, which was held at the Crown Palladium, also saw legends including Margaret Court and John Newcombe – who the awards are named after – in attendance.
Nick burst onto the world tennis stage when he beat Richard Gasquet and took out Rafael Nadal at this year’s Wimbledon Championships, reaching the quarterfinals.
