There’s a shake up at Channel 10 as numerous stars announce their departure and now news presenter Natasha Exelby is the next one to leave.
In a post shared to Instagram, the Ten News First anchor revealed she would be departing the program, with her final day on February 10.
“I look forward to drawing on my 20 years in journalism for the next adventure!” she began.
“Working in more than 50 countries and meeting extraordinary people has been the greatest privilege of my life so far.
“I somehow survived a military coup while living in Turkey where my house was sprayed with bullets. Reporting from nations like Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq …. learning their stories of torture and loss, has taught me humility, and the breathtaking brilliance of humanity – even when unimaginable evil strikes.”
She continued to talk about her experience joining refugees on their “harrowing journey” from the Middle East, across the Aegean Sea to Europe which has taught her “bravery and grit” and the “resilience and brilliance” she observed in Hong Kong. All of which will carry her through into her new journey.
“And in our own backyard, meeting those who’ve lost everything through bushfires and floods, and STILL getting up to fight another day, makes me so proud to be Australian,” Natasha said.
But the highlight of her career is covering the Tokyo Olympics and reporting amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’ve spent half of my career at TEN and so many colleagues have become friends and even family…. And will be forever,” she said.
“But it’s time for a new chapter!”
However, it is yet to be revealed where the established journalist will go next, but Natasha told followers to “stay tuned”.
Her exciting new move was applauded by Richard Reid, Georgie Tunny and Julie Goodwin. Even Dr Chris Brown, who recently announced his own departure from Channel 10, congratulated the anchor and referenced her time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
“You’re one of the true delights of this business @natashaexelby27 Smart and funny. A dangerous combination in any newsroom…or jungle. I can’t wait to see what’s next,” he wrote.
