American grandmother and teacher Ruth Reed found herself in a tizzy when she found the man she thought was a down-and-out broke man, was actually Keith Urban.
Ruth met the country music crooner when she was shopping at Waha. Once a month, the do-gooder made a resolution to help impoverished shoppers, short of a few dollars.
“There was this man and he didn’t look like he had a lot of money to be honest,” Ruth tells Chris O’Connell Fox 29 then added, “On the way out he asked me my name. I said it was Ruth.”
He said ‘I’m Keith.’ And I said, “You know that’s who you look like, Keith Urban, and he said, ‘I am Keith Urban.’ And I argued that he wasn’t!”
“But he was and he was on his way to play a sold out show at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden.”
The millionaire, kindly offered to take a photo with the teacher in the parking lot and Ruth later took to Facebook to share her chance encounter. “I didn’t believe him, I asked where Nicole [Kidman] was and who was the lady. He told me it was his sister.
“He finally said that I could ask his bodyguard. It was then I realized what an idiot I was. He graciously allowed me to get my picture taken with him. Another Ruth Reed moment,” she wrote.
“Three years ago, I made a resolution to treat somebody at Wawa once a week,” she added. “I have done that ever since. It is the best. I would encourage everybody to do it because it makes you feel good about you.”
The 50-year-old is currently touring the US as part of his Graffiti U tour.
