Well, the details of Taylor’s apparent cancellation are unclear.
“She was supposed to come but at the last minute cancelled,” an insider explained to the Daily Mail Australia.
The source claims she was lined up to be interviewed by Cody Simpson’s younger sister and blogger Alli, who was then left on the red carpet with nothing to do.
Alli, 17, called her brother’s ex-girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid – a member of Taylor Swift’s infamous “girl squad”.
On Thursday morning, Gigi is said to have confirmed that Taylor would be making a surprise appearance at the ARIAs, and that Alli would get her interview.
“Even Gigi was under the impression Taylor would be there but it seems she changed her mind at the last minute,” the told the DMA.
However the Bad Blood hitmaker’s appearance was never confirmed by ARIA officials or her record label, Universal Music.
Fans speculated the pop diva would make a surprise appearance to perform with good friend Ed Sheeran and when she was snapped boarding a private plane in Auckland, they hoped she would be flying into Sydney for the award show.
But fans were left wondering what happened, as Taylor was nowhere to be seen at the ARIAs. Was she ever actually going to the ARIAs, or was this a rumour from the get-go? Some mysteries will never be revealed!
Taylor landed in Sydney this morning, where she is set to kick off the Australian leg of her 1989 world tour this Saturday.
