After announcing she was skipping the VMAs, Taylor Swift has revealed the reason why: she was reporting for jury duty!
The pop princess showed up in Nashville to do her civic duty the day after the awards ceremony.
TMZ claimed she was dismissed as a prospective juror from the case, which dealt with rape and kidnap, after she explained to the judge she was likely to be biased.
The publication explained that the Shake It Off singer was already involved in a civil case that could prejudice her opinion.
Apparently, Taylor was allegedly fondled by a radio DJ at a concert. TMZ report that back in 2013, David Mueller a Denver radio DJ and his girlfriend took a photo with the singer and then left to enjoy the show.
David alleges that he was then “approached by one of Taylor’s security guards who accused him of grabbing the her behind and kicked him out of the arena.”
Due to her impending lawsuit, the 26-year-old was then dismissed from the jury panel.
But not before she let eager fans and fellow prospective jurors took selfies and videos with her, as well as graciously signing autographs.

Meanwhile, Taylor was a hot topic of discussion at the VMAs despite not actually being there.
Kanye West took a moment to mention their ongoing saga during his rambling speech, again reiterating that he called the blonde singer to ask her permission before including THAT line in his song Famous.
During the award night, many fans were quick to notice that Calvin Harris didn’t thank his ex when he won an award for This is What You Came For, despite the pair having worked on the song together.
