After just 15-months together, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris called time on their relationship earlier this week.
Naturally, rumours of the nature of their breakup has been spreading, with fans wanting to know more than just a few details.
Who broke up with who? Was their split amicable? Are they still friends? Did cheating play a part in their untimely end?
Now, in an attempt to shut down speculation, Calvin Harris – whose real name is Adam Wiles – has taken to Twitter with a simple message for his fans.
“The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect,” the 32-year-old DJ said to his 7 million followers, confirming their uncoupling.
Taylor is yet to release a statement of her own, but her decision to retweet his message shows that she wholeheartedly agrees with her ex’s sentiment.
While the news of their breakup broke yesterday, a source close to the estranged couple revealed to E! News that the 10-time Grammy Award winner and the Scottish DJ actually went their separate ways last week.
“Adam really liked Taylor, she was not the type of girl he ever dates and he liked that. He liked how innocent Taylor was and that she had a good caring heart.”
“Taylor’s heart was more in it then he was,” an insider revealed to the US publication.
“They were just not very compatible in different areas in their relationship,” the friend went on before explaining why the pair had a tough time making it work.
“The touring and traveling didn’t help. It seemed like they were more friends than lovers.”
Despite their differences, a friend has confessed to People that there was “no big blowout fight”, and the couple have chosen to remain friends.
“There was no drama, things just don’t work out sometimes.”
The 26-year-old went public with the Feel So Close hitmaker at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.
Earlier this year, the blonde beauty opened up to Vogue, calling their relationship “magical”.
“I’m just taking things as they come,” she began. “I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key … this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life.”
