The sister act, made up of Brooke, Sam and Mollie, have been the darlings of Australian country music since their 2007 debut album Chaos and Bright Lights.
Since then The McClymonts have managed to snag a Best Country Album ARIA Award for their second record, Wrapped Up Good and have a grand total of eight – count ’em – Golden Guitar’s tucked under their hip-hugging country belts.
But the sisters went on a career hiatus in 2012 when eldest sister Brooke took time off to have her daughter. This break gave the girls a chance to go away and recharge before regrouping this year to record their fourth musical offering, Here’s To You & I.
The Weekly caught up with the talented trio and fired off a few questions about what life’s been like since stepping back into the studio.
This week you are our first interview for Taking Five with The Weekly! How does that make you feel?
Really special! We are all huge fans of The Weekly!
What’s the best thing about working with your sisters?
We love having each other to lean on. Being out on the road can get lonely and tiring but together we make the most of it and make sure we have a good time.
What’s the worst thing?
It’s definitely not natural to spend so much time with your siblings, we know way too much about one another! We work together, eat together, share a room with each other, so by the end of a tour we are happy to wave goodbye, for a few days anyway, then its back on the phone catching up.
If you could have created and recorded any song in the history of music, which would it be?
There are so many amazing songs out there that it was hard to choose just one, but we collectively decided that a great simple country song that we all love is The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert.
I’ve got $50 left in my wallet. I can either spend it on a Game of Thrones box-set or come and see you in concert. Convince me why I should do the latter…
That is an easy one! Come and see us in concert. There is an energy exchange between an audience and a band and you just can’t get that sitting at home staring at a TV screen.
