Following Sarah Harris’ bombshell announcement that the 41-year-old will be joining the new-look panel on The Project, Studio 10’s remaining talent are scrambling to replace her!
Woman’s Day hears that while Ten stalwart Angela Bishop, 55, has put her hand up for the hosting role, former presenters and real-life best friends, Jessica Rowe, 52, and Denise “Ding Dong” Drysdale, who turns 74 this week, may make a bombshell return in a last-ditch effort to revitalise the sinking program.
“Angela Bishop has proven time and time again that she has what it takes to host the show,” TV expert and former Studio 10 executive producer Rob McKnight exclusively tells Woman’s Day.
“But that would leave a huge gap on the entertainment front.
“Jess and Ding Dong had a great dynamic, so why not bring them back and really liven things up?”
Rob adds that “viewers love Jess” due to her “warm, smart and fiery” spirit, and Ten should “bring her back as part of an expanded team to really liven things up”.
“Jess works best as part of a panel, and Ten would be smart to bring her back as part of an expanded team. They need to realise they’ve tried it their way and it hasn’t worked, so they should go back to the drawing board and look at what did work.”
A Ten insider echoes Rob’s statements, confirming that the mood within the Studio 10 team now is “do or die”.
However, the source says it could be a case of pouring more money and resources into a “sinking ship”, noting that the embattled show has weathered many panel changes over the years, including departures from Joe Hildebrand, Ita Buttrose and Kerri-Anne Kennerley.
“Executives have dug their heels in for too long,” continues the source, who says the time for change is now.
