Steve Jacob's introduces his little ray of sunshine!

It’s been an emotional time for Steve and his wife Rose, who recently became parents. Clare Rigden spent the day with them and their baby Isabella Anthonette.

From the moment he first set eyes on his gorgeous baby girl Isabella, Steven Jacobs knew his life would never be the same again. Gazing down at his wife, “soul mate” Rose, whom he’d married a little over a year ago, the weatherman who is normally so ready with a wisecrack was, quite simply, lost for words. Nothing could describe how thrilled he was to be witnessing the start of this new life.

“Steven was definitely the emotional one during the delivery,” says Sydney Weekender presenter Rose, who gave birth to their daughter on May 25 via caesarean. “He was right there at my shoulder bawling his eyes out.” “It’s true, I was,” says Steven, smiling at their tiny daughter cradled in her mother’s arms. “I just couldn’t get over how beautiful she was – and how lucky we are. During the surgery, we took in an iPod and played the music we had at our wedding. And just as she was born, our wedding song came on. It was total coincidence, but it couldn’t have been more magical.”

To the sounds of David Gray’s Sail Away, which played when Rose walked down the aisle in Bali, little Isabella made her much-anticipated entrance. “After Issy was born, Rosie was in recovery so they popped me in a room with the baby,” Steve says. “They laid her on my chest for some ‘skin-on-skin’ time, and there I was with my little baby – just the two of us. Suddenly she was ours. It was the most unbelievable experience.” One the couple is still marvelling at.

And although the final few weeks of their pregnancy didn’t exactly go to plan, they couldn’t have been happier with the way Issy took her place in the world. “Isabella was a breech baby,” Rose explains. “A lot of babies are breech initially, but they naturally turn themselves around. But for whatever reason, Isabella decided to stay the naughty way up.”
