In the old interview footage that Bindi shared, Steve can be seen speaking on what conservation means to him.

”Conservation is my whole life, my whole persona. What I want to be remembered for,” Steve says in the decades old interview.

”If I can’t get animals into peoples hearts there will be no conservation, there will be be no love for our wild animals and that would be devastating and this would be an ugly world.

”By conserving wildlife I am helping humanity, that is what I would like to be remembered for.”

And in a special addition to the day, the original bandmates of The Wiggles will be performing at Australia Zoo, paying homage to the late and great Aussie icon.

The band famously wrote a song called ”Crocodile Hunter” featuring Steve, Bindi and Terri and filmed a wiggly video special ‘Wiggly Safari’ at the zoo way back in 2002.

“Jumping in the water, climbing up a tree, rolling down the sanddunes, a friend to the animals, a friend to you and me,” the Wiggles sing in the song.

They shared to their Instagram, ”We are looking forward to celebrating and remembering the life of our friend Steve Irwin”.

And whilst Steve may not have been with us for more than 16 years, his legacy lives on.
