This Sunday, Ariana Grande is hosting and performing One Love Manchester, a tribute concert for the Manchester terror attack victims.
The 23-year-old singer will return to Manchester to perform at the Old Trafford cricket ground on 4 June.
She will be joined by Hollywood’s mightiest including: Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Take That, Niall Horan, Miley Cyrus, Usher and Pharrell.
All proceeds from the gig will go straight to the We Love Manchester emergency fund.
Ariana released a statement about the charity gig, saying, “I don’t want to go the rest of the year without being able to see and hold and uplift my fans. I’ll be returning to the incredibly brave city of Manchester to spend time with my fans and to have a benefit concert in honour and raise money for the victims and their families.”
The horrific terror attacks took place moments after her concert in Manchester wrapped up on May 22.
Twenty-two people were killed and 59 were injured when a suicide bomber placed a bomb in the foyer of Manchester arena as people began to leave the concert.
Following the devastating events, the singer admitted to her fans, “Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words.”
To date, 16 people have been arrested in relation to the crime.
Understandably, the charity concert has been well received by most, but the devastation of the crime is still very raw for many.
Greater Manchester police chief constable Ian Hopkins spoke to BBC Radio Manchester.
“When the idea of the concert came up, my first reaction was, we need to speak to the families of the victims and see what they feel,” he said.
“It’s fair to say that the majority of them are very much in favour, there are some that clearly aren’t and that is absolutely understandable.”
Ariana and her celeb friends aren’t the only ones doing their part to help all those affected.
Rapper Eminem took to Twitter asking fans to donate money to Manchester Evening New’s JustGiving page – who are raising money for the British Red Cross.
“Join me in helping Manchester victims & their families, Make a donation to the @BritishRedCross and @MENnewsdesk,” he asked, linking back to their page.
His plea has generated over £1,889,899 [approx $3,245,549].
