Sonia Kruger always knew she wanted to have children but, like many women these days, didn’t get around to it until she was in her 40s.
She assumed IVF would solve all her fertility problems, so was floored when, at 45, her doctor told her she had zero chance of conceiving with her own eggs.
Fortunately, a close friend donated an egg and at the age of 49, Sonia gave birth to daughter Maggie.
“It’s been such a joy for me,” she tells the June issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly. “I’m just so happy.”
Sonia admits motherhood has been difficult, but she would love to do it all again, even though she is, at 50, much older than the average mother.
“I would love to,” she says. “But I really feel like I shouldn’t push my luck!”
