Sonia Kruger has spoken about her miracle pregnancy at age 48, prompting an amazed response from her Mornings co-host David Campbell.
Sonia revealed over the weekend that she is currently four months pregnant, and has now revealed further details about how she conceived at age 48.
Speaking on Mornings, she confirmed that she used a donor egg which was given to her by a friend. The happy news comes only days before Sonia turns 49 and after a long struggle attempting to conceive. Sonia and her partner, TV executive Craig McPherson endured several rounds of IVF and suffered through a number of miscarriages before the current miracle.

Speaking to The Australian Women’s Weekly, Sonia said: “I want to be really open with people about the fact it is an egg donor baby because we occasionally see in the media women over the age of 40 falling pregnant and having babies. And I know from personal experience that you can be lulled into a false sense of security, believing you can put off motherhood and fall pregnant when you want to. But it’s not true. At least, it wasn’t for me.”
Sonia’s full interview with The Weekly will be released in the magazine on sale this Thursday.
On Mornings today, Sonia also revealed the moment that she told her co-host David Campbell that she was expecting, prompting a very surprised and touching reaction – watch the video below.
Due in February next year – the same year that Sonia turns 50, we wish both Sonia and Craig many congratulations!
