Sofia Vergara stripped down to her birthday suit for the ‘Naked Issue’ of Women’s Health, and she’s mighty proud of it.
“Here’s a woman, 45, being able to show her body,” she said of the feature. “It’s not like before, when it was just young girls who would make the cover of a magazine.”
The actress, who is perhaps most well-known for her portrayal of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family, said she’s focused on trying to age gracefully — rather than turning back the clock.
“I’m 45. Even if you want to, at this time in your life, you can’t be perfect,” she explained. “It’s not that you hate it, or that you’re upset about it, but it is our reality. We’re changing. I see it happening to me. I want to look my age, but I want to look great. I think if you are obsessed with this ‘I want to look younger’ thing, you’re going to go crazy.”
“People say, ‘Oh, you look like you’re in your 20s.’ Well, it’s not true,” she added. “Our skin is different. I had never thought of the word pore, then I’m like, ‘Sh**! What do I do with these?'”
Sofia, who married “Magic Mike” actor Joe Manganiello in 2015, also revealed that she works out with a trainer three or four times a week using an advanced Pilates machine.
“Joe built a very nice gym in the house, so I don’t have any excuses, [but] it’s like torture for me,” she said. “I’m in a bad mood two hours before, I’m in a bad mood while I’m doing it, I’m in a bad mood at the end because I have to schedule the next class.”
She explained that, for her, heading to the gym is more about staying healthy than anything else.
“It’s not about having muscle or cut abs,” she admitted. “I don’t have abs because I’m not ‘I need to be like a fit model with a perfect body.’ That would take too much effort!”
Speaking of her famous curves, she added: “I wish I could be a little more athletic, but when you’re born with these gigantic boobs…I’ve had them since I was 13, and then they got bigger when I was pregnant and had the baby.”
The Hot Pursuit actress previously revealed that when she first moved to Los Angeles from Colombia her publicist told her she needed a breast reduction if she wanted to be taken seriously.
“When I moved to America, I was more voluptuous, and I felt a little different,” Sofia told Health magazine in 2011.
“My publicist [at the time] told me, ‘I think you should just reduce your boobs because nobody’s going to take you seriously here’.”
Sofia said she seriously considered having her famous assets altered, but it was her mother who convinced her that it was a terrible idea.
“She was like, ‘God is going to punish you! You can’t cut your boobs!'” Sofia told the publication. “I don’t regret not doing it, because now it’s become a big part of my character on Modern Family.”
