Bobbi Kristina Brown’s family say she is off life support but not out of the dark

Earlier in the week Bobby Brown revealed to fans onstage that his daughter was “awake” but Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother has painted quite a different picture of her condition, tragically revealing the 22-year-old has permanent brain damage.

Nearly three months since Bobbi Kristina was discovered unresponsive in her Georgia home, her father Bobby Brown, 46, revealed at a concert in Dallas on Saturday that his daughter had regained consciousness.

“Bobbi is awake. She’s watching me,” the singer said as he addressed the crowd as a special guest at the Frankie Beverly concert, causing the audience to go wild. However Cissy Houston has cast a shadow of doubt over her recovery. On Monday Bobbi’s grandmother and mother to the late Whitney, offered a far more sobering update as she weighed in on her granddaughter’s condition.

“I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive,” Cissy said in a statement to People Magazine.

“Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me. We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers.”

Bobbi Kristina’s aunt Pat Houston, who is also Whitney Houston’s sister and the executor of the deceased singer’s estate, took to her Facebook page after Bobby’s announcement, apparently unaware of her niece’s brain damage, posting the following:

“So many messages, sorry can’t answer them all right now but I will get to them later..just allow me this time with my family,,yes, she woke up and is no longer on life support!!!!!:):)God is good!!thanks for your prayers,,still a process, but she is going to be ok:):):):) [sic].”

Bobby’s concert appearance over the weekend was believed to be the first time away from his daughter in months, as he has remained by her side since she was found unconscious in January, in circumstances eerily similar to which her mother Whitney Houston was found when she died in 2012.

Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
